On 1 April 2024, at about 12 18, Mandalay region fire department received a report indicating that a fire had broken out in (Nya) ward, between (65) street and (139) street, Pyigyitagon township, Mandalay region. The fire occurred at the building, a single-floor structure measuring 10 by 10 feet and owned by Daw Myint Myint Than. It was reported that a fire spread to the grass mat below due to excessive heat from charging the phone in the electrical outlet. Upon the information, fire engines from Mandalay region were sent the fire and the fire was completely extinguished at 12 48. 

Due to the fire, three houses were lost. It is learned that the Setmu local Police station has opened a case under Section 285 of the Penal Code (Pa) 51/2024 against U Arkar Kyaw, who was employed as a night watch man, due to his negligence.
