On 19 February 2024, at about 07 20, a traffic accident occurred near the mile post (12/3), Hlegu township, Yangon region. It was reported that the HYUNDAI (white/green/yellow) vehicle driven by driver U Chit Ko Ko from Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon ran out of fuel and stopped in slow-moving traffic on the right without visible obstacles at a sufficient distance, while the NISSAN Condor (white/blue) driven by driver U Mann Aung Thwin could not control the speed and collided from behind. Upon the information, fire engines from 11 mile highway fire station responded to the accident. The operation was completed at 08 30. Following the incident, the driver and one passenger among the three men in the vehicle were deceased, resulting in a total of two fatalities. They were transported to the hospital by the ambulance of Nyarnaitthara Social Association. It is learned that No 3 Junction High way police station has opened a case under the section 304-A of the Penal Code (Pa) 2/2024 against the driver, U Chit Ko Ko who drove the HYUNDAI and the driver U Man Aung Twin (dead) who drove the NISSAN CONDOR.
