On February 6, 2025, at approximately 12:20 AM, a fire broke out at the "Kan Thar Yar" market shop row located on the side of the Yangon-Mandalay highway in Ward No. (3), Bago Township, Bago District, Bago Region. The fire originated at the "Nandaw Win" tailoring shop, owned by U Lwin Kyi, due to overheating of a temporarily installed electrical wire while using electricity. Upon receiving the report, firefighters from the Bago Region Fire Services Department, Bago District and Township Fire Stations, Waw Township Fire Station, Phayar Gyi Local Fire Station, and Pyinbongyi Township Fire Station, along with auxiliary firefighters, responded with 4 fire trucks, 3 water bowsers and 3 fire support vehicles. The fire was successfully extinguished at 1:05 AM. Due to the fire eight (8x12) ft shop units were destroyed. U Ye Htut Oo, the shopkeeper of "Nandaw Win" tailoring shop, has been charged under Section 285 of the Penal Code at Phayargyi Local Police Station (Case No. (P) 13/2025).
