On November 27, 2024, at approximately 11:07 AM, a fire broke out at (50x20 feet) a two-story residential building, that located within the premises of the GENERAL PAINT marine paint factory at No. 46/47, U Tun Nyo Street, Industrial Zone (2), Hlaingtharyar (East) Township, Yangon Region. The building was owned by Daw Phyu Phyu Khin. The fire reportedly started from overheating while charging an LED bulb. Firefightres from Hlaingtharyar Township Fire Station, Insein Township Fire Station, and Mayangone Township Fire Station responded with one administration vehicle, eight fire engines, seven water bowsers, and one support vehicle. Firefighters and auxiliary fire members worked together to extinguish the fire, which was brought under control by 11:40 AM. The fire completely destroyed the two-story residential building. Legal action has been taken against the factory supervisor, U Tin Yone, under Penal Code Section 285, with the case registered as (P)1732/2024 at the Hlaingtharyar (East) Township Police Station.
