On November 17, 2024, at approximately 9:35 AM, a fire broke out in a rubber drying facility located within a rubber plantation near Milepost (103/1) on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway, in Boikkar Village Tract, Kyaikto Township, Mon State. The facility, measuring approximately 20x15 feet, with a zinc roof and brick walls, caught fire while heating approximately 700 pounds of rubber sheets. The fire reportedly started due to excessive heat, which caused the rubber sheets to ignite. Firefighters from the Kyaikto Township Fire Station, including auxiliary firefighters, responded with 2 fire engines and 1 water bowser. The fire was successfully extinguished by 9:52 AM. The fire caused partial damage to the roof of the drying facility and destroyed approximately 700 pounds of rubber sheets. The person responsible for the facility, U Myint Kyaw, is now facing legal action under Case No. (Pa) 100/2024 in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code at the Kyaikto Township Police Station.
