On July 30, 2024, at approximately 7:05 AM, a fire broke out at the "Mwa Mwa Lay" fried food distribution factory that owned by U Hla Ko, located in Wartayar Industrial Zone, No. (21) Ward, Thein Chaung Road, Shwepyithar Township, Yangon Region. The fire started when two (2x9) feet coconut oil tanks, which were being heated using a wood-fired stove, caught fire due to oil splashes, causing the coconut oil inside the tanks to ignite. According to the report, firefighters from the Shwepyithar Township Fire Station, along with auxiliary firefighters, extinguished the fire with  5 fire trucks and 3 water bowsers. The fire was successfully put out at 7:35 AM. Due to the fire, one barrel of coconut oil and three sacks of raw material bags were damaged. The police from Hlawkar Police Station have opened a case against Manager U Min Zaw Oo under Section 285 of the Penal Code with Case No. (P) 222/2024.
