On May 17, 2026,at approximately 6:00 AM,a traffic accident occurred between mileposts 46/1 and 46/2 on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway Road, near Tha Man Ta Lin Village in Kyaukse Township, Mandalay Region.A white six-wheel Mitsubishi Canter (License No. MDY-6E/8260), loaded with waste cardboard boxes and driven by U Pyone Cho (43 years old) from Nyaung-U to Mandalay, crashed into the rear of a stationary blue 12-wheel Mitsubishi Fuso (License No. MDY-1D/9160). The 12-wheel truck, carrying bags of rice from Taungoo to Paleik Village, was driven by U Pyay Soe Thu (26 years old).The impact left the driver of the six-wheel vehicle trapped inside the crushed cabin. Upon receiving the report, firefighters from the Kyaukse Township Fire Station deployed one fire engine to conduct search and rescue operations, and successfully completing the rescue at 6:22 am.Due to the accident, the driver of the Mitsubishi Canter died. His body was transported to the Kyaukse Township Public Hospital by the funeral vehicle of the Tha Man Ta Lin Village Philanthropic Association. The Kyaukse Myoma Police Station has opened a case (Case No. Ya Yin (Pa) 18/2026) against the deceased driver, U Pyone Cho, under Section 304-A of the Penal Code for reckless driving.
