At approximately 00:30 hours on May 16, 2026, a fire broke out at the “Swae Taw Phu” grocery store that owned by U Sin Kway (57 years old), located on Kanbawza Road, Ward (2), Lashio Township, Shan State. The fire reportedly started when an inverter overheated, causing sparks that ignited nearby tissue papers and paper packages. According to the report, firefighters from the Lashio District/Township Fire Station, Htin Shu Myaing Local Fire Station, and auxiliary fire members  from Wards (1), (3), (5), (8), and (12) responded to the scene with one administrative vehicle, six fire engines, and five water bowsers The fire was successfully extinguished at approximately 2:30 AM. Due to the fire a (30×20) ft single-story grocery store with corrugated iron roof and brick walls, a  (30×50) ft two-story adjoining building with corrugated iron roof and brick walls, 2 white Wish vehicles (without registration numbers), a black HONDA Scoopy motorcycle (64W/29245), a gray HONDA motorcycle (without registration number), a black CZI 125 motorcycle (without registration number),various goods were destroyed. It was also learned that legal action has been taken against the owner, U Sin Kway (57 years old), by the Lashio Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P)163/2026, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
