On 6 May 2026, at approximately 1:39 p.m., a fire broke out at the “Shwe Kabar” fuel station owned by U Hla Soe (70 years old), located beside the Pakokku–Myaing Road near Kyaukkan Village, Pakokku Township, Magway Region. The fire started when static electricity was generated while transferring 92 octane petrol from a fuel drum into a plastic container using a hand-operated pump. According to the report, firefighters from the Pakokku District/Township Fire Station, Pakokku Local Fire Station, No. (3) Auxiliary Fire Station, No. (4) Auxiliary Fire Station, and No. (7) Auxiliary Fire Station, together with auxiliary firefighters, responded with six fire engines, four water bowsers, two fire pump vehicles, and one support vehicle by using with 95 gallons of foam agent, ten 3-kg fire extinguishers, and one 35-kg fire extinguisher. The fire was successfully extinguished at 2:10 p.m. Due to the fire, 250 gallons of 92 octane petrol, 100 gallons of diesel fuel, one three-wheeled motorcycle, one (30×20)-foot corrugated iron-roofed open-sided structure, and one (40×40)-foot corrugated iron-roofed bamboo-mat-walled building were destroyed by fire. Additionally, two men and two women sustained minor burn injuries and were transported to Pakokku General Hospital by a vehicle from the Parahita Wathana Social Assistance Association. It is also reported that the owner’s son, U Aung Ko Ko Htay (37 years old), has been charged under Sections 285 and 337 of the Penal Code by Pakokku Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P)38/2026.
