On May 5, 2026, at approximately 5:35 a.m., a fire broke out at a rented shop owned by a cooperative on Bo Ne Win Street, in Kyaukpine Ward, Thanbyuzayat Township, Mon State . The shop was operated by U Kaung Myat Thu (26 years old), and measured (10 x 6) feet, with a corrugated iron roof, brick walls, and a concrete floor. It was a motorcycle and car sticker workshop named “Kaung Thu". The fire is reported to have started due to overheating after a fan was left running. According to the report, firefighters from Thanbyuzayat Township Fire Station, along with auxiliary fire members, responded with one fire engine and one water tanker. The fire was successfully extinguished at around 5:45 a.m. Due to the fire, two shop  were completely destroyed. It is also reported that legal action has been taken against U Kaung Myat Thu (26 years old) by Thanbyuzayat Myoma Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 48/2026, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
