On May 4, 2026, at approximately 8:15 a.m., a fire broke out at a two-story residential house located in Myothitgyi Ward, Lane (3), Area (15), Myitkyina Township, Kachin State. The house, owned by U Hmo U (45 years old). The fire is reported to have started due to overheating of an electrical socket inside an upstairs bedroom, which then ignited a nearby bamboo wall and caused the fire to spread. According to the report,  firefighters from Head of the  State of Kachin State Fire Services Department, along with auxiliary fire members, responded with two fire engines and four water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at around 8:30 a.m. Due to the fire, the upper floor of the (24 x 20) feet two-story house was damaged. It is also reported that legal action has been taken against the owner, U Hmo U (45 years old), by Myitkyina Area Police Station under Case No. (Pa) 77/2026, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
