On 17 April 2026, at approximately 1:35 a.m., a fire broke out at a single-storey house that owned by Daw Hla Hla Yi, in  Thepyu Village Tract, Thabaung Township. The fire started when residual embers from the cooking stove spread to a nearby wooden wall and ignited. According to the report, firefighters from the Pathein Township Fire Station, together with reserve firefighters and members of the Pyittaingtaung Social Assistance Association, responded with one fire engine and two water bowsers to extinguish the fire. The fire was successfully extinguished at 1:56 a.m. Due to the fire, two single-storey houses were destroyed. It is also reported that Daw Hla Hla Yi was charged by Thabaung Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P)16/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code.
