On 2 March 2026, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a fire broke out in Ward No. (2), Area (5), Kyaukme Township, Shan State. The fire started from a pile of garbage near a (15x15)-foot, single-storey house with a corrugated iron roof, bamboo walls, and a concrete floor, owned by Daw Aye Mu and rented by U Win Thein Oo. The fire occurred after a cigarette butt was carelessly discarded, igniting the rubbish pile and causing the fire to spread. According to the report, firefighters from the Kyaukme District Fire Station responded with one administrative vehicle, two fire engines and two water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at approximately 1:31 a.m. Due to the fire, a (15x15)-foot, single-storey house was completely destroyed, and a (40x30)-foot, two-storey brick house sustained minor fire damage. Legal action has been taken against the tenant, U Win Thein Oo (29 years old), by Kyaukme Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P) 52/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code.
