On 2 March 2026, at approximately 11:55 a.m., a fire broke out at the “Nyein Chan Ayeyar” fuel storage facility owned by U Tin Htay, located on Kananr Road, Ward No. (2), Dedaye Township, Ayeyarwady Region. The fire occurred while fuel was being transferred from a Nissan fuel bowser to a storage tank. During the transfer process, the fuel tank was accidentally struck with a hand-operated pump, causing sparks to ignite nearby gasoline barrels and resulting in the fire. According to the report, firefighters and auxiliary firefighters from the Dedaye Township Fire Station responded with three fire engines. The fire was successfully extinguished at approximately 12:05 p.m. Due to the fire, one (20x15)-foot garage with a tarpaulin roof and concrete floor was destroyed, the front portion of a white Canter vehicle was damaged, and five gallons of 92-octane gasoline along with five empty fuel barrels were lost. Legal action has been taken against the owner, U Tin Htay (65 years old), by Dedaye Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P) 18/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code.
