On 1 March 2026, at approximately 10:50 a.m., a fire broke out at the “Aung Moe Khine” soft-shell crab breeding business owned by U Aung Naing, located on Development (1) Street, Thit Sar Myaing Ward, Kyauktan Township, Yangon Region. The fire occurred at single-storey steel structure building when a soft-shell crab packing machine overheated and ignited nearby foam boxes, causing the fire to spread. According the report, firefighters from the South District Fire Station, Kyauktan Township Fire Station, and Thanlyin Township Fire Station, along with auxilary firefighters, responded with four fire engines and three water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at approximately 11:15 a.m. Due to the fire, the roof and ceiling of the (40x80)-foot steel structure building were damaged, along with 60 foam boxes and one heating machine. Legal action has been taken against the manager, U Aung Shwe (46 years old), by Kyauktan Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P) 18/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code.
