On 4 February 2026, at about 5:28 a m, near milepost 260/3 on the Yangon–Mandalay Expressway in Pyawbwe Township, Mandalay Region, a HIGER KLQ 6145B (white/red) “Myat Sanda passenger bus” (without passengers), driven by U Aung Naing Tun, was travelling in the slow lane toward Mandalay when a fire broke out due to overheating in the rear engine compartment. According to the report, firefighters from the Pepinle Expressway Fire Station responded with one fire engine and one water bowser and extinguished the fire at 5:43 a.m. Due to the fire, the rear engine compartment of the “Myat Sanda passenger bus” was damaged by fire. U Aung Naing Tun (43) has been charged under case No. (P) 8/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code, by the Pepinle Expressway Police Station.
