On 25 January 2026, at about 10:40 a.m., a fire broke out at a (10 x 10) ft, single-storey house with a thatched roof, thatched walls, and wooden flooring, owned by U Ye Min Ko, located in Chaung Wa Village, Oat Shit Kwin Village Tract, Ngapudaw Township, Ayeyarwady Region. The fire started when remaining embers from a cooking stove spread to the nearby thatched wall, causing the fire to ignite and spread. According to the report, firefighters from the Ngapudaw Township Fire Station responded by traveling by motorboat and, together with local villagers, carried out firefighting operations using portable fire pumps. The fire was successfully extinguished at 11:15 a.m. Due to the fire, thirty-five (35) single-storey houses were completely destroyed. The owner U Ye Min Ko (33 years old) has been charged under Case No. (P) 8/2026, Section 285 of the Penal Code, by the Ngapudaw Town Police Station, according to available information.
