On 6 December 2025 at approximately 8:30 AM, a traffic accident occurred on the Pyihtaungsu Highway between mileposts (78/5) and (78/6), at the intersection of Mingalar Ward and Ywa Thit Ward, Aungban Town, Kalaw Township, Shan State. A white 6-wheel SUNLONG passenger bus, registration number NPW-3, 5P/3904, operated under the name “Do Nyi Naung”, was traveling from Taunggyi to Kalaw and driven by U Khun Hla Zaw. The bus was carrying a total of 46 passengers, consisting of 28 males and 17 females. This vehicle collided with a white NISSAN ATLAS vehicle, registration number MDY-17, 2G/1452, driven by U Aye Lwin, which was traveling from Natmauk to Kengtung and carrying 19 passengers (6 males and 12 females).Upon receiving the report, firefighters and auxiliary fire personnel from Aungban Area Fire Station responded with one fire engine and conducted search and rescue operations, which were completed at 9:20 AM.As a result of the incident, the front windshield and front section of the white NISSAN ATLAS vehicle were damaged. Among the 19 passengers on the NISSAN ATLAS vehicle, two female passengers sustained minor (non-life-threatening) injuries and were transported to Aungban Public Hospital by a vehicle of the Maha Social Rescue Association of Aungban. The driver U Khun Hla Zaw (27 years old) has been charged by the Aungban Area Police Station under Case No. (Vehicle) 18/2025, Section 279 of the Penal Code, and legal action has been taken.
