On 4 December 2025 at approximately 7:38 a.m., a fire broke out in the kitchen of the “Pauk Kyaing Tea Shop,” a ground-floor structure measuring 30 x 60 feet with a corrugated metal roof and palm-log pillars, owned by U Zaw Myint Naing. The shop is located between 58th Street and 43 x 101 Streets in Yemon Taung Ward, Maha Aung Myay Township, Mandalay Region. The fire was caused by a malfunction of the valve on a 40 kg gas cylinder, resulting in a gas leak that ignited from a nearby stove, leading to the spread of the fire. According to the report, firefighters from Mandalay Region Fire Station along with auxiliary fire firefighters responded with 3 command vehicles, 10 fire engines, and 5 water bowsers. The fire was successfully extinguished at 8:03 a.m. As a result of the fire, one male (aged 16) sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mandalay General Hospital. Due to the fire, 30 x 60 feet with a corrugated metal roof and palm-log pillars, One single-story adjoining building measuring 10 x 40 feet along with its contents, and The ceiling and internal property of a 15 x 15-foot bedroom located on the upper floor of a two-story reinforced concrete (RC) building measuring 60 x 50 feet. In connection with the incident, the kitchen staff member U Myo Kyaw (age 22) has been charged by the No. (9) Myoma Police Station under Case No. (P) 292/2025, in accordance with Sections 285 and 338 of the Penal Code.
