On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 PM, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck, centered at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter was located about 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismological Station, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay City, at latitude 22.09°N and longitude 96.23°E.As a result, on May 14, 2025, search and rescue members from the Fire Services Department were conducting clearance operations in Mandalay Region and Shan State, where damages and losses had occurred due to the earthquake.
