On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 PM, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck, centered about 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay, approximately 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismological Station. The earthquake's epicenter was located at a latitude of 22.09 degrees North and a longitude of 96.23 degrees East, with a depth of 10 kilometers. As a result, on May 13, 2025, Search and rescue members from the Fire Services Department were carrying out clearance operations in the Mandalay Region, which had suffered damage and losses due to the earthquake.
