
On May 12, 2025, at approximately 12:15 a m, a fire broke out at a vehicle decoration workshop (A1) located at No. (18x50) feet, on Weiza Yandar Road, Ward (4), South Okkalapa Township, Yangon Region, owned by U Ye Ko Ko. The fire started due to overheating of a 6KVA power booster generator, which then spread to nearby car mirror stickers and materials. According to the report, firefighters from South Okkalapa Township Fire Station, auxiliary firefighters, and reserve fire personnel responded to the fire with five fire engines and two water bowsers. The fire was completely extinguished by 12:44 a m. Due to the fire (18x50) ft, single-story steel-structured building, the front and a small part of the exterior of a (18x55) ft, two-story RC (reinforced concrete) residential building, the upper floor frontage and a small portion of the balcony of a (40x60) ft, two-story building, the engine compartment and interior of a GAC brand (grey) vehicle were destroyed. Additionally, it was reported that the shop employee, U Myint Zaw, is being prosecuted by South Okkalapa Township Police Station under case number (Pa) 142/2025, in accordance with Section 285 of the Penal Code.
