On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 p m, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck, centered about 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismic Station and approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay City. The epicenter was located at a latitude of 22.09 degrees North and a longitude of 96.23 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometers. As a result, on May 12, 2025, it was reported that SAR members from  the Fire Services Department were conducting cleanup operations in Mandalay Region, where damage and destruction had occurred due to the earthquake.
