
On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 PM, a powerful earthquake struck about 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismic Center, and approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay City. The quake was centered at a latitude of 22.09 degrees North and a longitude of 96.23 degrees East, at a depth of 10 kilometers, with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale. As a result, on May 10, 2025, it was reported that search and rescue personnel from the Fire Services Department were actively engaged in cleanup operations in areas across the Mandalay Region that were affected and damaged by the earthquake.
