On January 19, 2025, at approximately 1:25 AM, a fire broke out at the "Nyaung Pin Lay Market" located in Ward No. 2, Maung Mya Township, Maung Mya District, Ayeyarwady Region. The incident occurred at a fried rice stall operated by U Than Zin Win, who had stored a charcoal stove near a 6x6-foot, single-story shop with a zinc roof and plywood walls, owned by his aunt, Daw Thein Aye. The fire started from fire residuals at the charcoal stove and spread to the nearby plywood walls. According to the report, firefighters from Maung Mya District and Township Fire Stations, Wakema Township Fire Station, and Ywar Thit Local Fire Station, along with auxiliary fire  members and municipal staff, responded to the scene with five fire engines and seven water bowsers. The fire was under control and extinguished by 2:20 AM. Due to the fire, 110 stalls, each 6x6 feet in size, with zinc roofs and concrete floors were destroyed. Legal action has been taken against U Than Zin Win for negligence of fire under Case No. (P) 15/2025, Section 285 of the Penal Code, at Maung Mya Township Police Station.
