On March 28, 2025, at approximately 12:51 PM, a very powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck, with its epicenter located about 20 kilometers northeast of Mandalay city and approximately 21 kilometers northeast of the Mandalay Seismic Station, at a latitude of 22.09 degrees North and a longitude of 96.23 degrees East, with a depth of 10 kilometers. As a result, on June 14, 2025, it was reported that search and rescue personnel from the Fire Services Department were carrying out clearance operations in Mandalay Region, where damages and losses had occurred due to the earthquake.
